Last week you saw the ugly (gotta love some good before pics!), and this week I bring you the lovely! I’m so thrilled and honored to bring y’all along with me as I work with The Shade Store to add custom woven wood shades to Sterling’s nursery. Currently the room has metal blinds that came with the house. I cannot tell you how noisy they are. Like…they need some WD40. BADLY. Did y’all catch the sound they make on our InstaStory yesterday? OMG. I’ll repost again today because it’s just too good. Or bad, rather. Can’t make this stuff (or that sound) up. My blinds are in desperate, sorry need of an upgrade from The Shade Store!
Alright…are y’all ready for the low down? Selecting window treatments has never been more fun (or fancy). I am so happy to share my The Shade Store experience with you!
Is this space gorgeous or what? Welcome to The Shade Store Charlotte, located in the heart of South Park (for all you locals). Even more specifically, it’s right on Sharon Road in front of the mall entrance near Crate and Barrel. You’ll find it a few doors down from Cowfish. I’m very happy that my hometown is fortunate enough to have North Carolina’s only The Shade Store showroom. I was so excited to pop in and take a look around the absolutely stunning space. (Don’t have a showroom in your town? Don’t worry! You can still experience the custom goodness of The Shade Store through their user friendly website.)
Are you swooning with me yet?! The words that kept coming to my mind during my showroom visit were “state of the art space.” This was a fancy, exquisite detour from my usual #momlife stops…you know…Target, the grocery store, preschool, etc.
The showroom staff were super friendly and accommodating. I even got to sip on Perrier (as close to real bubbly as I can get these preggo days) as I made my swatch selections to take back home with me before making my final decision.
I entered the showroom with a leg up: I knew exactly what product I wanted. I already have blackout curtains for the room, so after some serious The Shade Store website stalking combined with my Pinterest inspiration images, I knew woven wood shades were the way I wanted to go. There’s just something about them that brings such texture and warmth to a room. I am always a big fan of texture, and they just feel so cozy in comparison to cold, builder grade metal blinds.
Spoiler alert: Sterling’s nursery is about to have the nicest window treatments in our home, and I’m 100% okay with that.
I mean look at all these gorgeous options! They come fully lined too — the linen samples on the right are backing options for the swatches.
Decisions, decisions. I knew I couldn’t make a final selection until taking the swatches back home with me and checking them out in the room. I’m so glad I did that because my mind changed once I held them against the natural light of the room, the curtains, and beside the seagrass rug we purchased.
Here is what came home with me:
From these 5 swatches, I chose “Fair Harbor-1” for the room. I am so excited about it. It has just the right amount of gray tones in it. (Thank you to my interior designer, my mama, for 100% making this decision for me. 😉 I just show her what I like, and she picks the best one. Thanks Mommy!!!)
The Shade Store sent their measurer to my house yesterday to get everything all confirmed! Next step: their creation and install! I cannot wait to show y’all the completed project with the room. I just know it will be fabulous because–really–what about The Shade Store isn’t fabulous?!
