One hot + super humid day last month we made a commitment to raise Sterling up under a Biblical worldview instead of a secular one. We promised to bring him up in the Lord. It is my prayer and hope that as he grows, he’ll understand (and appreciate) that the Bible is the ultimate authority in our home. It’s not as the world thinks — and we want it that way. One day I pray Sterling will choose for himself to give his life to Jesus. And until then (well, after then too) this mama is praying, praying, praying for his personal relationship with the Lord!
Here are some snippets from our sweet, simple day. My precious in-laws made the trip over from England for this. (Are they the best or what? Seriously.) We went to church that morning, popped to the dedication right after, and then enjoyed an easy + light (Costco!) lunch and snacks at home with the Panthers game on in the background.
Marky, my beautiful mum-in-law, and Sterling. She bought + brought his outfit from England. It’s from the same store in the town Mark was born and where she purchased his dedication outfit years ago! How precious + priceless is that?!
Nancy wouldn’t not come up with us, and I kind of loved that. It was really sweet to see her so nurturing and involved in the ceremony. My friend + our campus pastor, Jonathan, led the ceremony which was really special. Marky and I went on a “date” to church one Saturday night when Sterling was 4 days old (yep, I just double checked that stat), and after service we had Jonathan pray over our Sterling man. We blinked and 5 months later Jonathan was leading S’s dedication as well! Anyway, I have had whispers from the Lord about Sterling leading worship one day. Since Jonathan and I led worship together in the past, I hope this was another “God wink” that a big heart for worship will be in Sterling’s future.
Nancy made sure that she had all of the jalapeño pimento cheese dip she could get away with eating before we made her exit the table.
For our simple + easy lunch we served chicken salad with croissants or over (my personal favorite bagged) salad.
Apparently all the men called each other and said, “Let’s wear blue.”
And of course there was cake. Salted vanilla!!!
Us. I can’t believe I have two babies!!
I ran to Nancy’s room when it was unnervingly quiet. Much to my surprise, two little girls were quietly reading. Not sure if this will ever happen again for a long time….so it had to be documented. We are so fortunate to raise two little best friend sissy cousins.
Dedication Gifts I Know Well + Love
This book is a personal favorite. It rhymes + is super relatable, so Nancy and I both have it memorized. (We were just reciting it as I linked it to this post.)
Life is good. Family is everything. Jesus is Lord! Love y’all!
